Golden Globes Guests Stuck in Limo Logjams amid Tightened Security

Think of Hollywood's gilded elite, who were reportedly forced to endure traffic jams Sunday night as heightened security slowed traffic around the Golden Globes.

deadline report This slowdown occurred because much of the Beverly Hills Police Department remained behind the scenes while carrying out its mission.

A police perimeter with patrol cars and motorcycles was set up 0.3 miles before the Hilton's entrance, and backup black sedans and limousines were prepared for those arriving for the red carpet, the report said.

Hours before the event began, police began blocking roads around the venue.

Although no specific threats were reported, security measures were strictly enforced.

Deadline's story begins as a result of a car backing up for more than 90 minutes to connect to the Beverly Hilton.

All trunks were inspected by hand and also by a sniffer dog. According to Deadline, officers apologized to guests for the delay and, despite the odd complaint, unanimous consent was reached.

Upon arrival at the Beverly Hilton, candidates, guests and media entered the venue alongside security guards with dogs. Participants reported multiple searches of women's wallets and bags, and multiple badges scanned for media.

“Detectives from the Beverly Hills Police Department's Intelligence Unit are working closely with neighboring police departments and federal law enforcement partners to share information regarding planned protests,” said BHPD Lt. Reginald Evans. told Deadline in a statement on Sunday.

“We worked with other state and federal law enforcement agencies and private security companies to increase the number of law enforcement personnel for this event,” Evans said. “We look forward to another successful and safe Golden Globe Award.”
