Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant will miss the remainder of the season with a serious shoulder injury, the team announced Monday.
The Grizzlies announced that Morant suffered a “right shoulder subluxation” during Saturday's practice. The team announced that due to her continued pain, she underwent an MRI scan, which revealed that she suffered from an “underlying labral tear.”

The star point guard will undergo surgery after the season and is expected to make a full recovery for the 2024-25 season.
Morant returned to the floor after serving a 25-game suspension for his gun behavior on social media. He scored 34 points, including a win in his first game back against the New Orleans Pelicans.

In nine games, he averaged 25.1 points, 8.1 assists, and 4.9 rebounds.
His suspension was the result of multiple gun incidents, culminating in a second incident in which he was caught carrying a gun on social media video. In his first game earlier this year, he appeared to have a gun at a strip club in Denver, an incident that caused him to miss eight games. He was never charged.

Separate from the gun video, Morant is fighting a lawsuit in court stemming from an altercation with a then-17-year-old boy at his home. Four days earlier, Morant allegedly “threatened” the head of security at a Memphis shopping mall, and a member of Morant's group shoved him in the head.
