He missed an open Roman Odunze twice in the first half that would have been a touchdown, and was unusually wide for most of the night. Penix completed a disappointing 27-of-51 for 255 passing yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. His quarterback rating of 93.6 was the lowest of the season.

The unsung hero
University of Michigan cornerback Will Johnson helped limit Washington's aerial attack, averaging 350 yards entering the night but just 255 on Monday. Johnson also had an interception as part of his big night.
