College football fans upset EA Sports didn’t release info about video game: ‘You had one job’

College football fans were excited to start the national championship game Monday night, but it wasn't just about watching the University of Michigan defeat Washington to win its first title since 1997.

Fans were hoping to get a glimpse of the trailer for EA Sports' new college football video game, scheduled for release in the summer. However, no commercials for the game were played during the broadcast, nor were trailers posted online.

Those who were expecting something were not satisfied and expressed their dissatisfaction online.

“Wait, where was the EA Sports announcement,” Barstool Sports' Big Cat wrote to X.

ESPN's Peter Burns wrote, “What a diabolically brilliant marketing move.” @Esports. A buzz arose that new information about his CFB video game would be released during the National Championship match. They didn't have to spend a dime to become a trending topic. Bravo. ”

“You had one job to do,” 247Sports' Brad Crawford wrote.

Some fans wanted commercials, while others wanted a firm release date.

Matt Brown, publisher of Extra Points, who has been covering the inside story of the game, warned that fans may be expecting some kind of announcement to disappoint.

“We have been told not to expect any major announcements today,” he said. I wrote to X before the game. “I'll set your expectations pretty low. If you don't see the gameplay or the exact date or anything else your heart desires right now, don't panic. I promise they're still making the game.” To do.

EA Sports has announced that the series will return in 2021 and will partner with university licensing companies to bring uniforms, stadiums, traditions and teams to the games. In 2022, EA Sports Vice President and General Manager Darryl Holt said the game would be released in summer 2024.

“This is the perfect day to deliver a game that we think will meet or exceed player expectations,” Holt told ESPN. “And it covers the breadth and scale of what we want from the game. We're trying to build a highly immersive college football experience.”
