Former first lady Melania Trump announced Tuesday that her mother, Amalia Knabs, has passed away.
“It is with deep sadness that I announce the death of my beloved mother Amalia,” the former first lady wrote in an X post.
President Trump described his mother as “strong” and “devoted” to her family.
“Amalia Knabs was a strong woman who always conducted herself with grace, warmth and dignity,” Trump wrote. “She was completely devoted to her husband, daughter, grandson, and son-in-law.”
“While we will miss her immeasurably, we will continue to honor and love her,” she added.

The news came after former President Donald Trump said Knaves was “very sick” at a New Year's Eve celebration at his South Florida home.

“I hope she recovers,” the former president said after noting that his phone call with Melania, who is in a Miami hospital with her sick mother, was cut off.
“It's tough, it's very tough,” Trump continued.

Similarly, Melania was absent from her family's Christmas celebrations to care for her sick mother.

“Melania has always been very devoted to her entire family,” a source close to Melania Trump told Fox News Digital. “No wonder she spent this Christmas with her sick mother.”
