Chiefs-Dolphins weather forecast is bad news for Dolphins bettors

If recent history is any indication, the Miami Dolphins may have a tough battle in the Kansas City weather Saturday night.

Meteorologists expect temperatures at Arrowhead Stadium to be around 0 degrees during game time, with wind gusts of up to 30 mph, making it even colder.

If temperatures drop further by game time, this game could make NFL history.

Heading into Wild Card Weekend, only four games so far have had temperatures below freezing at kickoff.

That's bad news for teams in sunny South Florida.

The Dolphins have lost 10 straight games at 40 degrees or below.

It's been a 20-year-old trend for Miami, which has gone 15-42 in games under 50 degrees and 8-19 in games under 40 degrees over the past 20 years. According to Action Network.

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, in particular, has struggled in cold weather throughout his NFL career, going winless with a passer rating of just 71.8 in four games in which game temperatures were below 45 degrees.

The Chiefs, who have been playing deep into the depths of winter for years now, seem to be enjoying playing in the cold.

They have won nine of their last 10 games in Kansas City when temperatures were below 40 degrees.

The Dolphins and Chiefs have already met once this season in Frankfurt, Germany, in Week 9, with Kansas City leading the way with 21 wins and 14 losses.

After opening at +3, Miami is a 4.5-point road underdog (BetMGM).

The over/under currently stands at 44 points, which would be low for a two-man offense led by Tagovailoa and Mahomes in a neutral field.

But in this expected situation, it doesn't matter who is behind center.

The Chiefs vs. Dolphins won't be the only game expected to be canceled due to inclement weather this weekend.

The Steelers and Bills will also play in Buffalo, where the weather is windy and cold.

The over/under for that game plummeted from 43.5 points to 36.5 points in just one day as astute gamblers bet on potential offensive struggles.
