A Seattle high school history teacher who previously came under fire for a class on sexual orientation and gender identity is said to have told students it was uncomfortable for them to identify as “heterosexual.”

Parents who filed complaints with school authorities said Ian Gollash, head of social studies at Chief Seals International High School, also told some boys that they were “telling the boys not to worry about it.” “It's a product of a patriarchal system that teaches people how to do things,” he said. .

The mother, who requested anonymity, provided a copy of the “Social Identity Circle” worksheet that Golash assigned to her 10th grade class. KTTH's “Jason Lantz Show”. This worksheet asks students to reflect on their various identities, including race, ethnicity, gender, socio-economic status, physical disability, emotional disability, developmental disability, and sexual orientation.

The parent said her 15-year-old son had labeled himself “heterosexual.” Golash then allegedly told the boy that he needed to choose less offensive words.

The mother expressed her concerns to Golash and Seals Principal Rey Garcia-Morales, according to email correspondence obtained by Fox News Digital.

“When filling out the social identity wheel, he said: [her son] He was told that if he identified as straight, he would need to choose less offensive language. It is completely inappropriate to dictate what terms students can and cannot use to identify themselves,” her mother wrote in a Sept. 24, 2023, email.

In an email thanking the mother for her feedback, Golash denied that she specifically targeted her son.

“I never told anyone what words they should use to identify themselves. In fact, I never told them what words they should use to identify themselves. We have made it clear that we do not intend to tell anyone how to identify themselves,” Golash wrote.

But he admitted that he told the class why he didn't want to use the word “straight.”

“I believe that language has power and that it shapes the culture we live in, so in response to a student, I told the class that we would not use the word 'straight.' “Curved'' can have a negative connotation,'' the teacher wrote.

“Straight” is a term used to refer to straight people, and there is no objection and it is accepted as a term that refers to straight people. LGBT people also often use the term “straight allies” to refer to those who support their political ideals.

The mother also claimed in an email that Golash had named her son during a classroom discussion about Florida's “ban on ethnic studies,” possibly a reference to Florida Gov. Ron, who the left has criticized.・This seems to be based on DeSantis' new standards for African American research. Her mother said her son had missed her class the day before, and when she asked Golash what she thought, she said she didn't know.

“Rather than discuss the topic and provide information and real answers, he was told that he was 'a product of a patriarchy that teaches boys not to worry,'” his mother wrote in an email. “You missed an opportunity here to teach your student about current events and instead shamed him for being a man. It's so wrong to think he was raised in a patriarchal household.” Masu.”

High school students say they were advised that criticizing ideological conformity could result in loss of college admissions.

Golash disputed that characterization of what happened, but did not deny that she told her children that they were “products of the patriarchy.”

“My reaction about patriarchy was not directed at any one student, but in relation to the discussion we have had over the past few days about the establishment and the actions of several boys in the class. “It was,” he wrote in an email.

“I certainly did not mean to suggest anything about your family,” he wrote. “What I meant was the power system that we all live in.”

Fox News Digital reached out to Golash for additional comment, but he did not respond in time for publication.

'What's Killing America' warns of how destructive liberal policies are seeping from cities to suburbs

Seattle students failed sex and gender

A student at a Seattle high school got an incorrect answer on a quiz in which he answered that it was “true” that “all men have penises.” (KTTH's “The Jason Lantz Show”)

This isn't the first time a topic brought up in his classroom has sparked controversy. Last month, a student in Golash's class was accused of giving a student a failing grade on a quiz after Golash answered, “Only women can get pregnant, and only men can produce a penis.'' parents filed complaints.

KTTH's “The Jason Rantz Show” also reported that Seattle Public Schools (SPS) is investigating two separate complaints against Golash. One case concerns a quiz, and the other concerns an incident in which anti-Semitic curriculum was allegedly taught to students.

“Mr. Golash brings many controversial topics into the classroom, and instead of inviting open, constructive, and truthful conversations, he provides biased resources that only serve to advance his own ideological agenda. “She told KTTH host Jason Lantz, author of What's What's. It's killing America. ”

“In this particular instance, Mr. Golash tried to censor the students by trying to convince them of the words they use. Mr. Golash coaches his students on what to think, not how to think.” in no way provides a classroom where students can protect their personal information.''It makes me feel visible and valued,'' she said.

His mother claims that her son “started to self-censor” because of Golash's “intolerant teaching tactics.”

She also previously claimed that teachers called her son “shit and a racist.”

In a statement to FOX News Digital, the school denied that any such defamatory conduct occurred.

“No allegations that students were called names have been reported to SPS. We have confirmed with the principal that this is the first mention of name calling,” the spokesperson said.

However, Lantz reported a Feb. 2, 2023 email in which the mother's husband sent an email to a teacher and principal about the libel incident, which appears to contradict the school's statement.

SPS did not respond to requests for clarification.
