Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., says he will make an “important” announcement concerning the Republican presidential primary on Friday.
Paul teased his announcement in a post on X Thursday.
He wrote: “I’ve stayed out of the Republican Presidential Primary so far – but I’ve seen enough. That’s why tomorrow morning I will have something important to say. Don’t miss it!”
In an accompanying video, he said: “Hey everybody, as you know I’ve been pretty quiet about the presidential race, which is kind of unusual for me.”
He gave no indication beyond the post about what his announcement would include.
Paul has not endorsed any candidate yet. If he does go ahead with an endorsement, it would follow Sen. John Barrasso’s endorsement Tuesday of former President Donald Trump, the Washington Examiner noted.
Barrasso of Wyoming said Trump and a “new conservative-led Senate partnership will restore American greatness.”
