Nuggets gave Nikola Jokic No. 15 to ‘erase’ what I did

It appears there are still some blemishes in Carmelo Anthony's relationship with the Nuggets.

Anthony recently appeared on the “7:00 PM Brooklyn'' podcast and complained about Nikola Jokic wearing No. 2. Denver had 15 — and apparently believes there was an ulterior motive in the matter from a team perspective.

“It was a petty operation. It wasn't like, 'Oh, I have a number to choose from.' It was like, 'Look, there's 15 of them,'” Anthony said. What is covered in the Bro Bible?.

“And you guys put Jokic in the middle of it. He doesn't know what's going on. He could have said, 'I want to wear No. 15.' He may have thought, “15 years have come.” “I can wear number 15. That's Melo's number.” He may have worn it because he wanted to show respect. But what I believe is that they gave him 15 to try to erase what I had done. ”

Anthony played his first seven and a half NBA seasons with the Nuggets, making the playoffs in each of his first seven years and reaching the Western Conference Finals in 2009, where they lost to the Lakers.

Feeling that he had reached his peak, he was forced to join the Knicks midway through the 2010-11 season, but he believes the Nuggets' woes continue to worsen due to trade demands.

On another episode of his podcast, Anthony shared that he advised former Blazers teammate Damian Lillard to leave Portland and gave insight into his thoughts on the trade request.

“We talked. I said to Dame, 'Man get out of here.' [Portland]” Anthony said with a laugh.

“It wasn't like a shock to Portland, but it was, 'Champion, you were in the same situation I was in Denver.'” Our loyalty is to me It's going to kill us – it's going to kill us! What do you need to see and know to make a decision? For me, they had to hit rock bottom to feel like, 'Okay, here we go.' ”
