Houston police are investigating the shooting. accusation Sexual abuse by a 12-year-old girl against her stepfather.
The girl made the accusation in a note left for her mother on Friday, January 5th.
After reading the note, the mother immediately picked up her daughter from her ex-husband and took her to her mother's apartment, police said.
According to police, the mother was discussing the charges with her biological father at an apartment complex around 8:30 p.m., but her stepfather, who is in his 30s, arrived at her home and denied the charges.
When the mother and daughter came out of the apartment, police said the biological father shot the stepfather three times.
Police said the stepfather was in “horrible condition” from the gunshots, two of which hit him in the leg and one in the stomach. He was taken to the hospital and underwent surgery. He is expected to survive.
The biological father is likely to be charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
No charges have yet been filed against the stepfather, but police say the investigation is ongoing. They are interviewing her daughter to determine if her daughter's claims are legitimate.
police Said Reporters said the stepfather and mother had been married for a long time, and the woman had four children between the ages of 10 and 17 with her ex-husband. Her ex-husband lived in an apartment complex near the apartment where her mother lived.
“I'm praying for that entire family,” said Lt. Ronnie Wilkens. “There are a lot of moving parts. Our investigators are on top of everything.”
