January 6 Committee-Fulton County DA Cooperation a ‘Separation of Powers Issue’

On Fox Business Network's “Mornings with Maria” on Friday, Rep. Russell Frey (R-S.C.) spoke about the now-defunct Jan. 6 Committee and former President Donald Trump. He questioned his cooperation with Fanny Willis, Georgia's Fulton County District Attorney, who is prosecuting the president.

Mr. Russell, the relationship between these two organizations raised separation of powers issues.

“A new report from Politico reveals that the Jan. 6 Committee helped Georgia prosecutor Fani Willis in the early stages of her Trump investigation,” FBN host Maria said. Bartiromo said. “That was in the spring of 2022, and it appears that committee staff helped Fulton County prosecutors prepare for interviews with key witnesses,” Texas Congressman Lance Gooden wrote in X: Quote, “This is a bombshell report. Adam Kinzinger, Liz Cheney, and the other members of the January 6th Committee should preserve their records. Subpoenas are coming.'' Congressman, I on this. What should we understand?

“Well, I think there's a separation of powers issue,” Frye replied. “Right? There's an investigative committee called the J6 Committee that shouldn't be working with prosecutors to actually do their homework. I mean, Fani Willis is obviously pretty bad at everything that's going on this week. I spent a week there.”

“But this committee seems to be pushing for an investigation and pushing for an indictment of President Trump, and I don't really see that,” he continued. “Information is often shared between the investigative committee and prosecutors when this case happens. But it appears they are doing their homework on Georgia prosecutors.”
