Congressional leaders also could have sent the House sergeant-at-arms to armed police on Wednesday. arrest or detention Hunter ignored a Congressional subpoena while on Capitol grounds.
Hunter appeared at a House Oversight Committee hearing to consider approving a resolution charging him with contempt of Congress for failing to comply with a subpoena.

Green said Hunter was not only allowed to attend the hearing, but a sergeant at his aide “escorted” him into the venue.
“I don't want everyone to know that the lieutenant actually escorted him with a Secret Service detail,” she said.
Asked if Hunter should be arrested if he attempts another public relations stunt, Green said, “I certainly think so.”
“But I also don't think we should be funding the war in Ukraine, and I also think we should close our borders,” Greene said, referring to the ongoing policy debate. “And I don’t think it should go through CR.” [continuing resolution]”
“There are a lot of opinions that are not necessarily popular here in Washington,” she said. “It's popular everywhere else.”
In December, Hunter ignored a subpoena for a private deposition. Hunter is a key witness in the House impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.
House investigators launched an investigation into the Biden family in November 2022, revealing that Joe Biden had received money from James Biden and Hunter Biden. They also revealed that nine more members of the Biden family, including two of Joe Biden's grandchildren, received compensation from the family's overseas business operations.
