NFL great Steve Young ‘felt bad’ for Patrick Mahomes amid Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce whirlwind

NFL legend Steve Young suggested that the celebrity cloud hanging over the Kansas City Chiefs this season has proven to be more of a detriment than a positive force for the team. The team struggled at times to win the district championship and end their eight-year streak of district titles.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have been the talk of the NFL world ever since they started showing up to Chiefs games this season to support her tight end boyfriend. The conversation turned from whether the Chiefs could repeat as Super Bowl champions to a breakdown of Kelce's play while his girlfriend was in attendance.

“From an outside perspective, this is the biggest thing that has ever happened to football,” Young said. told ESPN Check out Mahomes' season profile. “I felt sorry for Patrick when that happened.”

Swift Kelsmania forced Marquez Valdes-Scantling to catch a pass with a Green Bay Packers defender dangling and overturn an offensive offsides call in a key game against the Buffalo Bills. It is unlikely that this will happen.

Young told ESPN that he thought the Chiefs handled this cultural moment as well as they could.

Mahomes had the second fewest total passing yards of his career since 2019. In 2018 he took over the reins completely. He had 4,183 passing yards, 27 touchdown passes, and a career-high 14 interceptions.
