Manchin: ‘I love my country too much to vote for Donald Trump’

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-Virginia) said Sunday that he will not support former President Trump despite concerns about his party's leadership.

“Constructive criticism. Let me be clear: I love my country too much to vote for Donald Trump. I love my country too much and I think it would be very harmful to it. '' Manchin said on CBS News' “Face the Nation'' when asked about his criticism of President Biden.

Manchin said he expects to have a better understanding of the 2024 presidential race by the time Super Tuesday rolls around, including whether third-party candidates will have a chance to run.

“I think we'll see. We just need to know what's going on,” Manchin said. “If there's a movement for a third party, I think that's what you're asking: Can that movement make a difference?”

“I'm not going to give spoilers. I never have been and I never will. But people want choices and change. So we'll have to see what happens. , I think things will hopefully be resolved by then,” he said.

Asked if he would consider running for the White House, Manchin did not rule out the possibility.

“I'm going to do everything I can to save my country and I'm going to do whatever it takes. I'll help anyone and I'll support those who I think can help this country the most. “Go back to this common sense, common sense centrist, working with the center left, center right, working with the majority. You can't govern from extremes,” Manchin said.
