Iowan Dems Could ‘Crash’ GOP Primary to Help Haley: ‘I’ll Hold My Nose’

A number of Iowa Democrats reportedly braved frigid temperatures on Monday to help Iowa party members artificially inflate former Gov. Nikki Haley's election results against former President Donald Trump. They are reportedly planning to “crush” the gathering.

The possibility of Democrats voting for Ms. Haley would confirm that Ms. Haley's campaign is supported by Democrats and establishment Republicans who dislike the former president.

  • The Iowa Democratic Party will not hold in-person voting for the presidential election this year.

Don Maryse of West Des Moines told Axios that Iowa's caucus rules give “mischievous” anti-Trump voters “an opportunity to undermine Trump's inevitability.”

“I'm going to continue to caucus with my nose for Haley,” Maryse added.

Democrats see Haley as an alternative to Trump, which could artificially improve her election performance ahead of Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, said Republican strategist David Kochel. told Axios.

“Even if 5,000 or 7,500 people across the state crossed over for her, that could be the difference between her and Ron DeSantis,” Kochel said.

Haley's team, which fell far behind in the polls, refused to blame crossover voters. Haley is a “proven, true conservative who is working to win every vote,” said Olivia Perez-Cubas, a spokeswoman for the Haley campaign. Confirmed To Axios.
