Rex Heuermann to be charged with fourth murder: report

Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuerman is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday on a fourth-degree murder charge in the death of Maureen Brainard Burns, according to reports.

Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney plans to announce the new charges as soon as they are revealed in the Riverhead courtroom. According to NBC News.

Heuerman, 60, was indicted on separate charges in December 2010 for the so-called “Gilgo Four” killings of sex workers strewn on Long Island beaches within days of each other and for the murder of Brainard Barnes. He was named the prime suspect.

Brainard Burns, who disappeared in 2007 at the age of 25, was found bound with a distinctive belt engraved with the initials “WH” or “HM,” which belonged to Heuerman's grandfather. Prosecutors had previously argued that it may have belonged to William Heuerman.
