Lions head coach Dan Campbell is excited to have Jared Goff at quarterback.
A video posted by the Lions to harshly criticized Los Angeles for sidelining Goff for the game. He was traded three years ago for Matthew Stafford.
“I'll put it this way, okay? Hey, you're good enough to be the King of Detroit, Jared Goff.” Campbell said When he gave the quarterback the second of two pitches, the locker room erupted into cheers.
In Sunday's wild-card victory, Goff went 22-of-27 for 277 yards and a touchdown against the team that drafted him No. 1 overall in 2016.
It was Goff's first playoff win as a starter since the Rams defeated the Saints in the NFC Championship Game five years ago to advance to the Super Bowl.
Detroit will host the winner of Monday night's Buccaneers-Eagles game Sunday at 3 p.m.
“I love and appreciate you guys more than you guys will ever know, I promise you that. I love you guys so much,” Goff told his teammates after receiving the game ball. Ta. “This is just the beginning, guys. This is just the beginning. This motherfucker's got three more of him. Next week at home, at our place, whoever the fuck wants to be here. I'm going to play against you.”
Campbell handed the first game ball to Lions general manager Brad Holmes. Campbell said he and he have been “very aligned” since they both joined the organization three years ago.
“I truly love everyone in this room,” Holmes said after receiving the ball.
Lions fans were able to finally celebrate a playoff win, so they were screaming their hearts out all night long and are hoping for another win next weekend.
“Man, how electric was it out there? I'm telling you, it doesn't get any better than this,” Campebble said in the locker room. “It's everything you dream of and more. It's a great job.”
