James McCabe's tiebreaker error gives Alex Michelsen a set 7-6 (7-5)
McCabe, another Australian wildcard, overcame a slow start to force Michelson into a tiebreaker and was just two points away from taking the first set.
The 21-year-old from Sydney fell behind 4-0 early in the set, but fought back to take a 5-4 lead and continued to break each other's serve in the next three games.
Leading 5-2 in the tiebreak, McCabe was in control of the first set, but Mikkelsen's forehand winner was followed by four errors by the Australian.

Sloane Stephens defeats Olivia Gadecki 6-3, 6-1
After taking some time to warm up, Stevens advanced to the second round of the Australian Open for the second time in his past eight appearances.
Stevens won the second set 6-1 to defeat the 21-year-old Gadecki.
The Australian wildcard got off to a quick start, leading 2-0 in the first set, but was only able to hold serve twice as Stevens won 12 of the next 14 games. It was just that.
Alex de Minaur advances to the second round

The Australian advanced to the second round with a victory over Italian veteran Sara Errani.
The 29-year-old was overcome with emotion after matching her performance in the first round of last year's French Open.
“It means everything,” Hunter said on court after the game. “I grew up watching the Australian Open and dreamed of playing here.”

good morning! It's another beautiful sunny day in Melbourne as we prepare for day three of the Australian Open. Current temperatures are around 27 degrees, but the Bureau of Meteorology says it will reach 30 degrees after this, so no doubt the misters will be working overtime at Melbourne Park.
There was plenty of action during last night's night session (you can relive it here), and today is the final day of first-round singles matches, with doubles set to begin and a packed schedule.
In today's session, women's world number one Iga Świętek will begin her match against former champion Sofia Kenin. 11th seed Casper Ruud will face Spain's Albert Ramos-Vinolas. And Australians Olivia Gadecchi, James McCabe and Max Purcell will all compete in the first round.
