In a 2010 report, the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights detailed that mass immigration, primarily illegal immigration, disproportionately impoverishes black Americans by cutting wages and crowding them out of the labor force.
of bomb reportwas conducted in 2008 by the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights and published in 2010, interviewing multiple experts and researchers examining the impact of mass immigration on America's black communities.
The report addresses “panelists' consensus that there is a negative impact on wages for low-skilled black workers, and the scope of that negative impact,” and highlights the impact of tens of millions of undocumented and legal immigrants over the decades. It revealed the impact that imports had on this country. It only exacerbated the problems of America's poor and working class.
The federal government awards green cards to more than 1 million legal immigrants each year, in addition to about 1.2 million foreigners who are granted work visas to take American jobs. At the same time, there are currently an estimated 15.5 million illegal aliens in the United States.
According to the report, black men are most adversely affected by illegal immigration because they are “disproportionately employed in low-skill labor markets where they are more likely to engage in labor competition with immigrants,” and that black men are the most negatively affected by illegal immigration. Approximately 6 out of 10 people are affected by illegal immigration. High school diploma or below.
The report states:
Illegal immigration to the United States in recent decades has tended to lower both wages and employment rates for low-skilled Americans, disproportionately of whom are black men.. Economists' opinions on the negative impact range from moderate to significant. Panelists found that while the overall impact was modest, there were significant impacts in industrial sectors such as meat packaging and construction. [Emphasis added]
The report reflects recent data from the Brookings Institution that reveals that the wealth gap between black and white Americans has continued to widen significantly since 1992. This widening wealth gap has coincided with the influx of tens of millions of illegal aliens and legal immigrants, widening the wealth gap. The labor market is benefiting corporations and Wall Street.
“…from 1989 to 2022, the median wealth gap between blacks and whites averaged $172,000 and rarely fell below 10%,” the Brookings Institution says. write:
However, between 2019 and 2022, the gap increased to more than 10% on average.-Suggesting the widest gap since 2007, when the gap reached $214,970. Widening inequality means that by 2022, for every $100 of wealth held by white households, black households will have just $15. [Emphasis added]
According to the report, Vernon Briggs Jr., a former professor emeritus of labor economics at Cornell University, told the committee that “no issue is 'more detrimental to the economic well-being of African Americans' than immigration.” said.
Dr. Briggs highlighted the following distinguishing characteristics: The illegal immigrant population is probably 81 percent in the low-skill sector of the job market. About 57 percent of them do not have a high school diploma, and 24 percent only have a high school diploma.. Because they often come from poorer countries, they are likely to have lower quality education and often lack English proficiency, he said. According to Dr. Briggs, Because of the competition they bring for local youth and America's 43 million low-skilled workers, the low-skilled labor market suffers the highest unemployment rate of any measured segment. He further pointed out that the low-skilled labor market is the most vulnerable to economic hardship. During economic downturns, high-skilled workers fall back into the low-skilled labor market, further intensifying competition for low-skilled jobs. [Emphasis added]
Georgetown University professor and economist Harry Holzer said, “U.S. employers prefer illegal aliens over poorer native-born Americans because of their perceived superior work ethics and tolerance for lower wages.'' They prefer to hire and use ethnic networks to recruit,'' he told the committee.
“Dr. “This shows that they are encouraging,” the report said.
Dr. Carol Swain, a former Vanderbilt University professor, told the committee that the federal government should create an independent commission dedicated to reforming domestic immigration levels aimed at lifting Americans out of poverty; and said it should impose much higher costs on U.S. employers who choose it. Hire illegal aliens.
In its report, the commission asked the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) to collect data on undocumented immigrants in the U.S. labor market and track working-class wages and the impact on U.S. blue-collar workers. He recommended that. While the BLS collects data on the foreign-born workforce, it has not yet compiled data on illegal aliens and their impact on American wages.
