Alex Murdaugh is scheduled to appear in a Richland County, South Carolina, courtroom Tuesday morning to discuss his request for a new murder trial.
Lawyers for Murdaugh, who was convicted last year of fatally shooting his wife and son on his family's hunting property in June 2021, told the Colleton County Clerk's Office before Murdaugh was found guilty of double murder. Beck Hill is expected to claim that he was involved in jury tampering.
The South Carolina Department of Law Enforcement has opened two investigations into Hill's conduct during Murdaugh's murder trial. That includes an investigation into allegations that Hill used her position as a clerk to profit financially from the sale of her book on the case, which she later accused of He admitted that the book contained plagiarism. and a separate investigation into allegations of jury tampering.

Prosecutors plan to call Hill to the stand Tuesday. The defense plans to call retired judge Clifton Newman, who oversaw the Murdaugh case, and South Carolina prosecutor Clayton Waters.
