A skid loader driver in Nebraska has been arrested after allegedly driving twice through a snowy parking lot, damaging his car and crashing into a police vehicle that tried to stop him.
The incident began Sunday afternoon in the parking lot of a YouStop convenience store in Lincoln, where police said the suspect, 36-year-old Samuel Paylot, was seen “destroying a vehicle with the machine.” press release.
The brazen driver then drove down the street in a front loader to a hardware store, where a witness captured footage of Paylot's path of destruction continuing.
At one point, a police SUV with its siren blaring tried to pull over the skid loader, but Paylot was seen moving around the squad car and slamming into the police vehicle's passenger-side door.
“Get out of the car now! Don't move,” the officer commands the driver, pointing a gun at him, the footage shows.
More officers eventually arrived on the scene and arrested the reckless suspect, according to police and witness footage.
Peiro was charged with second-degree assault on a police officer, second-degree assault and criminal mischief, police said.
Police said the rampage caused damage to the exteriors of multiple vehicles and two businesses, and left a man in one of the targeted vehicles with minor injuries.
Authorities say the skid loader is owned by Paylot's boss.
When asked for comment by the Post, a Lincoln Police Department spokeswoman said she did not know the suspect's motive.
