Powell played three seasons with the Gators from 2010 to 2013, but missed the 2012 season with a torn ACL. According to Rivals, he was the No. 1 prospect coming out of high school.
The Saints selected Powell in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He played in 14 games for them in his rookie season and recorded two tackles. He was released before the start of the 2015 season, but was placed on the Saints' disabled reserve without a claim.
The Chicago Bears signed him to their practice squad in September 2016, and he was ultimately signed by the Seattle Seahawks from their practice squad three months later. However, he never had a down play for either team.
