Male gets angry at speeding neighbors, throws beer can at them — and then grabs his AR-15 and fires shots, sheriff says

One man, angry at his neighbor for speeding, threw a beer can at him, then grabbed an AR-15 rifle and fired. According to Grady JuddSheriff of Polk County, Florida.

What are the details?

“I want to tell you an incredible story,” Judd said in a video posted on the sheriff's office's Facebook page. “Now we all have complaints about people speeding down the street and driving through their neighborhoods. Ol' Eric Proctor took that behavior to the extreme.”

Judd said Proctor claimed a neighbor sped down his street and threw beer cans at him in retaliation.

After confronting them about speeding, Judd said Proctor grabbed an AR-15 rifle and fired three shots, once in the air and twice on the ground.

Judd said neighbors called police for help, but Proctor denied their claims. Surveillance video showed Proctor entering the home, exiting with a rifle, and returning with the rifle.

What happened next?

Proctor, 35, was arrested on charges of three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of throwing a deadly missile, discharging a firearm in public and tampering with evidence after Wednesday's incident in Lakewood. He was indicted. WOFL-TV reportedcited the arrest affidavit.

Proctor was released from the Polk County Jail shortly after posting $26,000 bail, the station reported, citing arrest records.

“If you're that excited, call me right away,” Judd added in the sheriff's office video. “We'll deal with it, and you won't be sent to prison for a felony.”
