These fans paid a price to watch the Chiefs beat the Dolphins on Saturday at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.
The Kansas City Fire Department transported 15 people from the stadium to area hospitals, where seven were treated for hypothermia and three for frostbite. According to KMBC.com.
The department received 69 calls for service Saturday, including calls from inside the stadium and in parking lots, with nearly half related to hypothermia.
These numbers do not include walk-ins to the aid station at KU Medical Center, which has seven aid stations at Arrowhead Stadium, according to KMBC.
Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill took to the field for Saturday's wild-card matchup, and mega-pop star Taylor Swift also watched live in a flashy Kelce jacket, but frigid temperatures prevented the game from happening. He dominated the conversation before the start and during the game.
The kickoff temperature for the wild-card matchup was -4 degrees, and the temperature dropped to -8 degrees during the game, which Kansas City won 26-7.
Saturday's contest was the coldest in Arrowhead Stadium history. Per KMBCand the Chiefs announced This was the fourth coldest kickoff temperature in NFL history.
The -27 degree wind chill was also the third coldest kickoff chill in NFL history, according to the Chiefs.
The situation even caused Chiefs coach Andy Reid's mustache to freeze.
Kansas City can only host another playoff game if they beat the Bills on the road on Sunday and the Texans upset the top-seeded Ravens on Saturday.
The Chiefs lost on FanDuel by 2.5 points to the Bills, who beat them in the regular season.
Kansas City has recently taken Buffalo's numbers in the postseason, eliminating back-to-back Bills in 2021 and 2022.
However, both of those games will be played at Arrowhead Stadium, and this time the Bills will host the Chiefs at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York.
The Ravens are the favorites with a 9.5 point lead over the upstart Texans.
