Bill Belichick may be close to finding his next team.
NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported that the Falcons and Belichick are scheduled to hold a second interview this weekend after the legendary coach met with team owner Arthur Blank on Monday night.
“Things are accelerating under the greatest coach of all time…” Rapoport wrote about X.
Belichick and the Patriots parted ways last week after a disastrous 4-13 season that marked a bitter end to a 24-year history that included six Super Bowl championships.
New England moved quickly to promote linebackers coach Jerod Mayo to replace Belichick.
At 71 years old, it never seemed like Belichick would retire, and he's working on his next step just as quickly as the Patriots.
The Falcons fired Arthur Smith hours after their 7-10 season ended with a 48-17 loss to the Saints.
University of Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh is also on the list of candidates interviewed by the Falcons.
