White House Oversight Press Secretary Ian Sams said in a memo released Thursday that the push to impeach Mayorkas was a “stunt” and showed a blatant disregard for the Constitution.

Mr. Sams also claimed that Mr. Mayorkas is actively working to find solutions to problems that Congressional Republicans have refused to solve for years.

His comments came as the House of Representatives was holding its second and final hearing on the secretary's impeachment.

Rep. Mark Green (R-Tenn.), chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, spoke at the meeting. He highlighted how Mayorkas refuses to enforce the law.

“As we learned in last week's hearing, 85% of illegal aliens are now being released under Secretary Mayorkas' watch,” he said. “The Secretary himself acknowledged this when he visited Eagle Pass this week.”

The committee is scheduled to vote on the impeachment resolution on January 31st.cent.
