Hamas claimed in November that Vibas, his mother Sheila, and brother Ariel were killed. The terrorist organization released a propaganda video of Yarden Bivas, the father of a separate hostage family.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) disputed that there was no evidence that the mother and child died. Israel has no actual knowledge of the whereabouts of Bibas' mother and child and suspects that they may have been transferred or “sold” to another faction or to Palestinian civilians.

era of israel report:

A crowd of hundreds of people holding orange balloons gathered in Tel Aviv's Hostage Square to celebrate Kfir Bivas' first birthday.

The host said that Kfir had spent a quarter of his life in captivity. Kfir, along with his four-year-old brother Ariel and his parents Shiri and Yaden, were abducted from Kibbutz Nir Oz to Gaza on October 7.

On stage, children hold up posters of the Vivas family decorated with orange balloons and printed with the words “The saddest birthday in the world.” Entertainer Tal Mousseri tearfully dedicates the first song to his heroic mother and father.
