A Tennessee child rapist was unable to survive the frigid temperatures and surrendered after running from police for less than an hour, authorities said.
On January 14, 20-year-old Demarcus Davis fled while handcuffed while being transported to the county jail in a patrol car, according to Memphis Police.
Police distributed a bulletin to locate the suspect, who was wearing only jeans and a gray hoodie at the time of his escape.

After trudging around in the cold for about 45 minutes, Davis decided it was better to be cooped up than freezing.

According to law enforcement, the 20-year-old flagged down a passing vehicle and turned himself in to authorities.
