The Kitchen (Daniel Kaluuya and Kibwe Tavares, 2023), Netflix
Few actors have experienced as meteoric a rise as Daniel Kaluuya, who rose from flashy bit player to A-list Oscar winner. Now that he's at the top, it's time to move into directing. The Kitchen, co-directed with Kibwe Tavares, is his futuristic science fiction film about a funeral parlor worker who attempts to leave a London favela. The kitchen is full of anger, with a striking design inspired by part Blade Runner, part District 9. It's just amazing to see what heights he will reach as a coach in the next few years. stuart heritage
