Rep. Nancy Mace's former chief of staff is being supported by her former staffers as she considers a preliminary challenge against the congresswoman, two people told Fox News Digital.
Dan Hanlon joined Mace's office in 2021 from the Office of Management and Budget in the Trump administration. He reportedly stepped down under controversial circumstances last month.
A person familiar with his plans told Fox News Digital that Hanlon has been approached about potentially running for Mace's seat, and two sources said multiple former staffers have expressed interest in some way. He said he was unofficially supporting Mr Hanlon.
The person said at least one former communications director for Ms. Mace now supports Ms. Hanlon, and that her position is “filled with” former staffers of hers.

“I, along with several other former staffers, are supporting Hanlon in some way,” a second source said.
The first source familiar with Mr. Hanlon's plans said, “While Nancy Mace was busy appearing on TV and increasing her net worth by millions, Mr. Dunn spent years serving South Carolina voters in Congress. “We have received a great response because we have done the actual work of doing so.” “Both the donor base and grassroots voters are tired of Mace bashing Trump privately and bashing true conservatives as bastards in public.”
