Top-ranked Iga Swiatek is out of the Australian Open after a 3rd-round loss to Linda Noskova

World No. 1 Iga Swiatek missed the Australian Open after losing in the third round to No. 50 Linda Noskova 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 on Saturday.

Swiatek has won four majors but has never made it past the semi-finals at Melbourne Park.

Noskova, 19, will be playing in the main draw of the Australian Open for the first time.

Swiatek was on an 18-game winning streak after defeating 2020 Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin and 2022 finalist Daniel Collins in the first two rounds.

However, after winning the first set against the Czech Republic, she struggled for rhythm.

After fending off a break point in the seventh game of the second set, Noskova won 11 of the next 12 points to tie the score at one set apiece.

Noskova continued to hammer away, holding love in the penultimate game, much to the annoyance of Swiatek, who forced her rival to serve out.

After falling behind 30-0, Noskova quickly ended the game with four points. She earned match point with an ace and sealed it when Swiatek sent a forehand long.
