Norfolk police refers itself to IOPC over 999 call from home where bodies found | Norfolk

Later, police did not respond to a 999 call from a house where four people, including two infants, were found dead.

Norfolk Police said they were contacted by a man at the address around 6 a.m. Friday, but officers were not dispatched.

About an hour later, I received another call from a member of the public. This time a police officer was dispatched. Police forced their way into the home at around 7:15 a.m. and discovered the bodies of two girls, a 45-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman.

The force said on Saturday it had notified the Independent Police Conduct Authority about the failure to respond to the initial 999 call.

The company had already notified the watchdog on Friday in connection with another matter related to the incident. Eleven days before Christmas, officers were involved in a missing person investigation at an address in Costessie, near Norwich.

The identities of the four men found have not yet been officially identified, but the man's name is believed to be Polish engineer Bartlomiej Kuczynski. It is understood he lived at the address with two children, believed to be his daughters. Police said the woman who was found dead with him was visiting and she lived elsewhere. It is believed that they were members of the same family.

DCI Chris Burgess, of the Norfolk and Suffolk Major Investigation Team, said: “Post-mortem examinations will be carried out on the man and woman tomorrow, and on Wednesday on the two girls.”

“We can confirm that injuries were found on all four people, but we will not be releasing any further information until tests are carried out and the cause of death is determined.

“This is a tragic incident that is heartbreaking for everyone involved and it is clear from the reaction that it has caused great shock and upset to the local community. Uniformed officers will be patrolling the area today. and will continue tomorrow.”

Police confirmed they were not conducting any other searches in connection with the incident.

Neighbors left flowers and cards outside the home this weekend while a local church was open so people could light a candle and pray.

Police, along with detectives, were patrolling the area on Saturday, conducting door-to-door interviews and monitoring surveillance cameras. A cordon remained in place and forensic tests were still being carried out.

The police watchdog said it had received an inquiry from Norfolk Police “in relation to a prior contact made by police at an address in Costessey, near Norwich, where four people were sadly found dead”. Admitted. “We are assessing the available information to determine whether an investigation into the contact is necessary and, if so, who should carry out the investigation,” an IOPC spokesperson said.

The force said the inquiry was made “following confirmation of a 999 call from a man who was at the address at 6am yesterday morning” and no police resources were committed. Ta. A post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
