Rep. Nancy Mace (RS.C.) on Monday voiced her support for former President Trump, announcing Nikki Haley's latest endorsement from her home state of South Carolina.
Mace confirmed to The Associated Press on Monday that she supports Trump over former South Carolina Gov. Haley, who lives in her congressional district and supported her in the 2022 midterm elections.
“I don't completely agree with any of the candidates, and I haven't mentioned anything like that until now,” Mace told The Associated Press. “But it’s time to come together in support of our candidates.”
The Hill has reached out to Mace's office for further comment.
Ms. Haley, Mr. Trump's former ambassador to the United Nations, was the only candidate to face Mr. Trump in the primary after Ms. DeSantis suspended her presidential campaign on Sunday following a disappointing showing in last week's Iowa caucuses. He became a person who took on challenges.
Mace's endorsement of the former president follows a series of endorsements from South Carolina, which comes about a month after the state's primary election.
Sen. Tim Scott (R.C.), who put his Republican bid for the White House on hold in November, announced his support for Trump earlier this week. South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster (R), who served as lieutenant governor under Haley, endorsed Haley last year.
According to Hill & Decision Desk's polling index, Trump has a 33-point lead over Haley in the Palmetto State, with an approval rating of 59% to Haley's 25.5%. ing.
All eyes are on New Hampshire this week as the Granite State holds its first primary in the nation on Tuesday. Trump leads Haley in the state by nearly 11 points, based on polling indices from The Hill and Decision Desk, which includes DeSantis.
Mr. DeSantis' campaign suspension could widen Mr. Trump's lead in the Granite State, according to a poll released hours before Sunday's announcement.
According to a CNN/University of New Hampshire poll, 62% of New Hampshire Republican candidates who chose DeSantis as their first choice chose Trump as their second choice, and 30% chose Haley as their alternative.
