‘What I Lean on Through Thick and Thin’

Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud spoke about his faith after his team's playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

In his postgame press conference, Stroud said he relied on God “throughout the depths.”

“That’s something I always count on.” Stroud told reporters. “I know I'm upset right now, but as I look back on this year, I feel truly blessed to have this opportunity to play in front of millions of people today. I am truly grateful for all the opportunities you have given me.

“I'm just going to rely on God and I know this isn't the end for me,” he continued. “It's going to be a lot more soccer for me to play and I'm really looking forward to it. I'm also very blessed with the guys that I've lined up with every week this year. And I'm grateful for how far God has taken me. I'm so grateful for that. I can go all the way back from my childhood to college to my first week to now. I've grown in so many ways as a person and as a man of God. I am truly blessed.”

Stroud has been open about his faith in God since last year. his name is Selected as MVP.

“For me, it’s a lot of prayer,” Stroud said. “I know very well that God will not impose on me anything that I cannot bear. I am not worthy of His grace and mercy, and yet He has given it to me. And that's why I love God. It's not about me. It's about Him and His glory. I think that's where it comes from. That God made me the way I am. think.”

“I've been through a lot. It's kind of chilling when everything goes wrong, not just football. And I thank God for giving me that. Yes, because that's what it takes to play in this position, with a lead. That defense, they allowed big plays and didn't blink.
