Texas must hold the line

While journalists and pundits are busy debating the impact of the Republican primary, the real battle for America's future is occurring on the Texas border with Mexico.

The Biden administration has enacted pernicious open border policies that welcome millions of illegal aliens into the country and facilitate full-scale invasions. Texas Governor Greg Abbott is trying to stem the tide by deploying razor wire and giving state law enforcement the power to arrest foreign trespassers. Federal Border Patrol responded by cutting wires that allowed fully unvetted immigrants to continue illegally entering the country indefinitely.

Mr. Abbott took the unprecedented step of expelling Border Patrol agents from the Eagle Pass area, where many of these illegal border crossings occurred. But now the Supreme Court has ordered the Texas officials to resign. The time has come for leaders like Abbott to defy the courts' unjust decisions and protect the people they are sworn to protect.

Democracy is a ridiculously easy system to hack. If the current population does not reliably support the ruling class, the elite can simply import a new population to dilute the influence of the old population. The left has made clear its intention to transform the United States through immigration, introducing a subordinate class of low-wage workers and eliminating all support for political opposition.

The Biden administration not only welcomes these illegal aliens, but transports them on buses and planes deep into the country, where they are never found. Since President Biden took office, at least 8 million illegal aliens have been encountered at the border, roughly seven times the population of Montana.

Mass immigration brings crime, disease, poverty, drug addiction, and human trafficking. In sanctuary cities like New York, as Mayor Eric Adams evicts entire schools full of children to house illegal immigrants and state legislatures pour billions into their health care benefits, Even the world is finally realizing the incredible costs of opening borders.

Democrats have welcomed a wave of illegal immigrants that outnumbers the population of some red states and are looking for ways to convert them into legal voters.

While the financial and social consequences of this invasion are devastating, the existential threat to America's political process is the most pressing concern. Democrats have welcomed a wave of illegal immigrants that outnumbers the population of some red states and are looking for ways to convert them into legal voters. The normalization of mail-in voting and the rejection of voter identification laws are clearly efforts to enable voter fraud. But even if it doesn't work, Democrats will have succeeded in changing the electorate for generations.

It is now clear that the immigration problem cannot be solved at the federal level. Republicans have paid lip service to border security for decades, betraying voters at every opportunity. Because big business financiers love cheap labor and the media can fabricate headlines about “children in cages” all day long, the devastating impact that immigrant incursions are having on core communities is simplistic. It becomes easier to turn a blind eye.

If the Republican Party were an actual opposition party, the left's efforts to change the way our democracy works would be taken more seriously. But the Republican Party is not an opposition party. Republicans are the party on the outside, Democrats are the party on the inside, and no one is interested in preserving red America. The truth is that Republicans are embarrassed by their overwhelmingly white base and are just as eager as Democrats to replace them with a voter base that meets the approval of the New York Times editorial page. That's true.

Donald Trump managed to win the presidency with promises to build a wall and close borders, but he was met with resistance from both parties and fell short. Immigration numbers fell significantly under the Trump administration due to stricter enforcement policies, but his changes were short-lived. Congress refused to fund the president's wall, even though lawmakers later came up with more than $100 billion to secure Ukraine's border, and Trump's interests were ousted from the White House. Suddenly everything disappeared.

The Unionist Party and the stubborn bureaucracy in Washington want the border open, and it will remain open unless states take action.

Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Amy Coney Barrett have once again betrayed the conservatives who put them on trial, allowing the Biden administration the right to promote aggression. Greg Abbott must protect his state's residents and the nation from a hostile administration.

The Chief Justice handed down the judgment. Now let him force it. Governors must ignore the Supreme Court's ruling and continue to protect their borders. Democrats consistently refuse to comply with immigration laws. There is no reason why a Republican governor should follow this malicious order.

Have the federal government send in agents for the express purpose of opening the borders and letting in illegal immigrants. Have Texas law enforcement meet them at the border and direct federal agents as soon as they arrive. The optics would be an absolute disaster for the regime. Force the Biden administration's hand and set an example for other conservative governors. Defending our country and exercising the kind of autonomy that was the foundation of the founding of the United States.

Mr. Abbott could be the man of the hour as a desperate country, drowning in economic and social costs from mass illegal immigration, needs leadership. The governor's defiance of the Supreme Court will be far more important than any legislation, election or even presidential race.

America's future depends entirely on the willingness of conservative governors to tell the federal government to pound sand. Greg Abbott is in a unique position to make history and protect our country. I hope he finds the courage to do it.
