A coroner will examine evidence in the case of former NHL player Adam Johnson, who died after decapitating himself with an opponent's skate while playing in England in October.

On Nov. 14, a man was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter in connection with Johnson's death, but the arrestee's name has not been released. He was later released on bail.
Matt Petgrave was a Sheffield Steelers player whose skates decapitated Johnson during a game against Johnson's Nottingham Panthers.
South Yorkshire Police launched an investigation into the incident on October 28, which the Panthers described as a “freak accident”.
Mr Johnson's aunt Kari said in November that the family wanted “justice” for the “reckless” actions that led to Mr Johnson's death.
“We'll just have to let it play out and see what happens.” Kari Johnson told the Mirror: After being arrested for the incident.
“Whatever decision they made, I would have had to accept it. But I'm glad they're committed to what they have to do.”
Johnson, a 29-year-old Minnesota native, played in 13 games for the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons.
Johnson was planning to propose to his girlfriend, Ryan Wolfe.
