Sunday marks three weeks since three Kansas City Chiefs fans were last seen by their loved ones, all found dead under suspicious circumstances. How the three froze to death remains a mystery, and the families of the deceased football fans are demanding answers.
As Blaze News previously reported, a group of friends gathered to watch the Chiefs take on the Los Angeles Chargers in the final regular season game on January 7th.
Ricky Johnson, 38 years old. David Harrington, 37 years old. and Clayton McGeeney, 36. He went to a friend’s house in Kansas City, Missouri, to watch the game.
McGeeney’s fiancée was unable to contact her future husband, so she tried to contact the party’s host, Jordan Willis. However, she was unable to contact Willis.
fox news According to the report, “Cary La Tear, a friend of the three men, wrote in a Facebook post that her husband was ‘violent’.” [Willis’s] Please open the door for 20 minutes. Lindsay Ray Baldwin wrote that she and other friends of hers tried to contact Willis for 24 hours but received no response. ”
After not hearing from McGeeney for two days, his fiancée visited Willis’ home and made the horrifying discovery on January 9th.
“As the door was not answered, she entered the basement of the residence and discovered an unidentified body in the back door,” the initial police report on the incident said. cadaver. Upon further investigation, officers discovered two other bodies in the backyard. No obvious signs of foul play were observed at or near the crime scene. ”
Her fiancée told police that after breaking into the home, she called Willis to announce her presence, but he did not respond.
Willis’ attorney, John Picerno, said his client did not hear any knocks on the door or the woman entering the home. Willis also said he did not know his friends were outside the home. Willis claimed he slept for nearly 48 hours after the NFL party.
However, Picerno later revised his statement and said Willis had been sleeping “a lot” over the two days and was using noise-cancelling headphones, so he likely didn’t hear the knock at the door. Stated.
Picerno said Willis forced McGeeney, Johnson and Harrington to leave the house and then fell asleep on the couch.
Kansas City police said Willis “was cooperative with detectives.”
“First and foremost, this case is 100% not being investigated as a homicide,” said Kansas City Police Department Lt. Jake Becchina. “No arrests have been made. [or] Charges have been filed and no one is in custody. There is no particular threat or concern to the surrounding community at this time. The occupants of the home were cooperative with detectives the day the body was discovered. ”
Picerno pointed out that Willis allowed police to search his home without a warrant and without a lawyer present.
Ross Nigro, an attorney for Johnson’s family, told Fox News that police conducted a second search on Jan. 11 based on a warrant.
Regarding claims that people have contacted him, Picerno said, “None of those people called his cell phone.”
“One of them, I think it was his fiancée, sent him a message on Facebook Messenger. But he didn’t get it until the police got it,” he said.
Officer Alaina Gonzalez, a spokeswoman for the Kansas City Police Department, said: Associated Press Saturday: “This remains a death investigation and there is nothing more to be done. We have no evidence or indication of a crime yet and no one is in police custody.”
Picerno said his client left the home because he feared “retaliation.”
Picerno previously said there were four men at the gathering. But he now says there were five, and says he misspoke earlier.
Andrew Talzi, the fifth man’s lawyer, said: WDAF-TV His client left Willis’ home around midnight after the Chiefs game, and the other men stayed behind to watch “Jeopardy,” he said.
daily mail It reported that the fifth man who attended the football party was “longtime friend Alex Wiemer Lee.”
Harrington’s mother, Jennifer Marquez, said her son was “the best person.” [she has] Until now, it was unknown,” and she intends to do everything in her power to “uncover what happened that night.”
“Yes, I believe something happened that night and Jordan had something to do with it,” Marquez said. fox news. “We all believe Jordan had something to do with it.”
“Jordan is not telling the truth,” Marquez declared. “If you tell the truth, your story stands. When you lie, your story changes. That’s what’s happening now. I don’t understand why the police don’t see that.”
Harrington’s father, John Harrington, told Fox News the story was “unbelievable” and he “doesn’t believe anything.” [Willis’] says the lawyer. ”
”[Harrington’s mother] And I’m both convinced that Jordan Willis was involved in this in some way,” John Harrington said Thursday. What else could there be? Perfectly healthy humans don’t just disappear from the face of the earth. ”
“There were four of you in the house, and three of you are dead, and you’re not dead. That doesn’t make sense,” said the distraught father. “I think he and all three of them learned something or saw something they shouldn’t have seen. So he decided, ‘Okay, we’ve got to get you out now.’ ” Whether they are friends or not. ”
Senior Harrison said: “We know they may have used questionable drugs, but the idea was to get high, not die. If they were supposed to be friends, why not? You didn’t?” he admitted. [Willis] Come and find out. I’m sure they have a hundred different answers to that, but that’s my question. ”
Johnson was found outside without a coat on, something his father said he “never” would have done.
The night of the Chiefs game, the low temperature was around 33 degrees.
Forensic pathologist Dr. Michael Baden theorized that this tragic situation could have been the result of ingesting a drug like fentanyl.
“If these four people had acted together, the man on the couch had been sleeping for a long time, and the three outside probably weren’t wearing coats,” Baden said. fox news. “Due to the cold weather, [could be] A combination of drugs and hypothermia caused their deaths. ”
“It would be the type of drug that causes disorientation in humans,” Baden said. “Fentanyl drugs can cause disorientation and rapid loss of consciousness, similar to sleep.
“If they all drank alcohol, they wouldn’t collapse at the same time,” he added. “Everyone reacts differently to large amounts of alcohol and metabolizes alcohol at different rates.”
Kansas City police are awaiting a report on the cause of death from Frontier Forensics, but it could take more than six weeks to get a toxicology report.
Willis holds a Ph.D. He is a senior principal investigator at the Shief Institute at the IAVI Neutralizing Antibody Center in Kansas City, but reportedly works from home.
Johnson’s mother, Norma Chester, suggested Willis may have poisoned the three friends.
“What comes to mind is this guy wants to brag about how smart he is and how he’s a scientist,” Chester said earlier this week. “My guess is that he made something up and gave it to all three of them. I know I’m just thinking, but how could something like this happen?” Did you?”
Picerno dismissed accusations of drug use or addiction, calling the idea “ridiculous.”
Mr Johnson’s brother, Jonathan Pryce, questioned why Mr Willis was sleeping all day on Monday if he was a “responsible person” with a PhD. and his work as a scientist.
“That part doesn’t make sense to me, especially when you appear to be a responsible person, a responsible enough person to get a Ph.D. in a science that seems very complicated,” Price said. he said in an interview. Fox & Friends. ”
Willis reportedly owned two dogs, but there are questions about why he did not let them out into the backyard where the deceased man was.
Picerno claimed the dogs were at Willis’ father’s home.
Nigro said the fifth man recalled seeing a dog during the soccer rally.
