FIRST ON FOX: McConnell-aligned GOP groups raised $95M in 2023 for Senate majority battle

exclusive: Two outside groups affiliated with longtime Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell reported raising nearly $95 million last year as Republicans seek to retake the House majority in November’s elections. .

The Senate Leadership Fund, the top super PAC supporting Senate Republican incumbents and candidates, and its affiliated nonprofit public advocacy group One Nation last year, according to numbers first shared with Fox News on Tuesday. A total of $94,789,049 was raised.

Last year’s fundraising exceeded the total raised by One Nation and Senate leadership in 2021 by about $400,000, and the organizations say their combined fundraising in 2023 is a record for a non-election year. .

“There continues to be widespread enthusiasm for our mission to restore the Senate majority,” said Stephen Roe, president and CEO of the Senate Leadership Fund. “His focus on raising the resources to compete with strong Democrats will pay off in November.” In a statement.

Roe also predicted that “the days of Senate Democrats having a majority are numbered.”

One Nation ended 2023 with nearly $61 million in cash on hand, and the Senate Leadership Fund had more than $35 million in coffers at the end of last year.

These five seats in the Senate are most likely to flip in November

Democrats hold a slim 51-49 majority, including three independent senators who meet in the Democratic conference.

That means for Republicans to regain a majority, they would need a net gain of either one or two seats, depending on which party controls the White House after this year’s presidential election.

According to the math and maps, Republicans will have an advantage in 2024. Democrats hold 23 of the 34 seats at issue. Three of those seats are in red states won by former President Trump in 2020: West Virginia, Montana and Ohio.

Democrats are defending an open seat in West Virginia after Sen. Joe Manchin announced late last year that he would not seek re-election.

The other five seats held by blue are in key battleground states that were narrowly won by President Biden in 2020: Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

Texas and Florida, where incumbent Sens. Ted Cruz and Rick Scott are up for re-election, appear to be the only Republican-held seats that could be up for grabs this November.

American Crossroads, in partnership with the Senate Leadership Fund, this week secured nearly $50 million to advertise in Montana this fall. This is the first major advertising booking by both groups this cycle.
