The woman fell into a dumpster where she was reportedly disposing of trash, was thrown into the back seat of a garbage truck, and survived for an unknown length of time.
A woman in Manchester, New Hampshire, reported that she “fell into a trash can while throwing out trash and was scooped up and chased away while picking up trash.” WMUR-9Ariel Mitropoulos.
The garbage truck driver said he could only see the woman in the back seat because there was a camera inside the vehicle.
Local witnesses also said they heard the victim’s screams.
“They came to choose [our garbage] here, and [the driver] “I heard screaming and thought something really bad was happening,” one man said.
By the time the driver realized the woman was inside, the garbage truck had already compressed the parts four times.
“I’ve never seen anything like this in my 32-year career,” said firefighter and battalion chief Bob Bode. “That’s alarming, because you don’t believe it’s true.”
The chief’s comments seemed to hint at the idea that the woman may have been looking for something inside the trash can.
“You wouldn’t think something like that would actually happen, but these are tough times and people are doing different things,” he added.
City officials don’t know exactly how long the woman was in the dumpster, but the fire chief said it was very fortunate that the driver found her inside.
Shockingly, Bode said that when she spoke to the garbage truck driver, he pointed out that something similar had happened before.
“I spoke to the driver and he seemed OK. He said it wasn’t the first time something like this had happened, so definitely this was to be expected,” Bode said. said incredulously.
The woman was filmed being lifted from the back of a garbage truck on a stretcher by firefighters. Rescuers had to use a crane to complete the rescue. She was taken to nearby Elliott Hospital, where she reportedly escaped with only minor injuries, even though the trash had been compacted.
The woman reportedly lives nearby.
