4 NHL players charged with sexual assault stemming from alleged 2018 World Juniors incident

On Tuesday, Carter Hart of the Philadelphia Flyers, Dillon Dube of the Calgary Flames, and Michael McLeod and Cal Foote of the New Jersey Devils were each charged with sexual assault.

The three athletes were three of five members of Canada’s 2018 world junior team who sexually assaulted a woman at a hotel after winning the gold medal.

Seven other members of the team then entered the room and despite her protests, she “subjected to further sexual assault,” the complaint continued.

Attorneys for all four players said via NJ.com that their respective clients are innocent as they have all been granted administrative leave.

London police have scheduled a press conference for February 5 to address the situation and declined to comment further on the incident. A spokesperson told the AP that police “will provide all updates at a press conference.”
