The horrifying incident in which a 13-year-old boy discovered a skull in a Pennsylvania pond two years ago led to prosecutors revealing Wednesday that the remains belonged to the man who tried to kill his wife more than 20 years earlier. As a result, things took a dark turn.
Dylan Bond accidentally discovered the skull while searching for frogs in April 2022, and the skull was sent to Mercyhurst University for analysis. According to reports.
The Berks County District Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday that the body has been identified as Roger Hart, of Pottstown. Mr. Hart allegedly tried to murder his ex-spouse in April 2004 before his ouster.
Shortly after the escape, Hart’s car was found near a reservoir, with his keys and wallet still inside. FOX43 reported. Since his discovery, he has not been seen again.
According to the newspaper, prosecutors at Mercyhurst University said the skull belonged to a man and had been underwater for more than 10 years.
Pennsylvania State Police and the FBI then conducted advanced DNA testing on the skull, which led to Hart’s identification.
The cause of death could not be determined due to the condition of the skull and the lack of other remains.
Bond was outside near his uncle and aunt’s house two years ago when he made this discovery.
“I felt something hit my toe, so I looked down and I couldn’t see it,” the boy said. ABC6 at the time. “But when I scooped it up with a stick, I thought it was a turtle at first.”
“I was shocked…I’ve only been here for two days,” he said of finding out what it was. “I never thought I’d find a human skull.”
