Republican presidential candidate former Gov. Nikki Haley (R-South Carolina) said Thursday on CNN’s “The Lead” that she will continue campaigning through the Super Tuesday primary.
Anchor Jake Tapper said, “Did you think it was inappropriate when RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel suggested you drop out because you couldn’t see a path forward?”
“I think it was absolutely inappropriate,” Haley said. “There are two states that voted, 1,215 delegates, Donald Trump has 32 and I have 17. 48 states to get there. And we need more territories. I’m not going anywhere. I’m going to keep running through South Carolina, going to Super Tuesday, and keep moving forward.”
She added, “This is about the fact that we can no longer live in chaos. It’s not just about getting domestic policy on track, it’s about preventing war and keeping America safe. It’s about the fact that we have to focus on what we need to do to make sure we’re protected. Two people out there can’t do it. That’s what Americans are telling people. We have to make sure our voices are heard. We need to lean in and focus on what we need to do to win the primaries to get the country back on the right track.”
“Are you determined to continue racing until Super Tuesday no matter what happens in South Carolina?” Tapper said.
Haley said, “We’re going to Michigan and Super Tuesday. We have a country to save, and I’m not going anywhere because I don’t want my kids to live like this.”
