Jason Day uses crystal ball at AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, ‘charges’ up leaderboard

Jason Day had a Babe Ruth-like moment at this week’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

After the second round on Friday, he improved his score to 1-under 71. Posted in X“Time to recharge this weekend.”

Indeed, he did.

“To be honest, I was pretty pissed off with the way I played.” [Friday]” Day said.

“I was [maybe the] At first today, we were in the middle of the pack as the second group was separated from the first.I [wanted] I decided to go out and film somewhere in the 60’s and got off to a good start and things went smoothly. ”

The 2015 PGA Championship winner started the day with four straight birdies. All four of those makes were from within 10 feet as he adjusted his irons early.

After that, he missed three putts on the par-3 5th hole, but recovered with a birdie on the par-5 6th hole.

Four holes later, Day missed the uphill par-4 11th to the right of the fairway.

He then dunked his second shot for an eagle two.

“I hit a little 3-wood there,” Day explained of what happened on the 11th.

“It was okay to miss the fairway. I mean, you want to hit the fairway, but you’re not too worried about it. It was one of those days where you’re sitting there. If it’s in the rough, it’s the same It’s like I don’t have to hit an 8-iron from distance, so I’m okay with it. Yeah, that was a great 9-iron. To be honest, it’s one of those shots I didn’t expect to go in.”

The eagle improved Day to 10 under par and won.

He had three more birdies, two on the par-5 14th and the par-5 18th.

Day had a great chance for another eagle on the final hole, but missed the putt. That would put him in line with AT&T Pebble Beach’s pro-am course record for at least a few minutes.

“Given today’s conditions and the course setup, if you’re hitting drives down the middle and have really good spin control, especially heading into the green, you definitely have a chance.” I shot something really low.” Day explained.

“We all know there’s going to be some bumpy Poa Anua greens and a lot of footprints and things like that, so you’re going to have to have some good breaks and some bad breaks. But certainly today we’re going to get back into the tournament I think it was one of those days where we had to be a little more aggressive.”

As with his pre-shot routine, Day envisioned this great round and took advantage of the wet conditions. Now he’s squarely in for Sunday’s final round.
