UK Lawmaker Calls for Dead People to Be Able to Change Their Gender

A left-wing Labor MP has called for UK law to be changed to allow people to publicly change their gender after death.

In a written question submitted to parliament last month, Warrington North MP Charlotte Nicholls called for updates to the Gender Recognition Act (GRA) 2004 to “recognize deceased transgender people legally according to the sex they lived in.” He suggested that the system should be made so that it can be memorized.

The move comes after about 14,000 people called for similar changes to the law in response to the murder of Brianna Gee, a transgender teenager who died at the age of 16, below the 18-year-old required to change gender. This follows on from last year’s petition, which was signed by Legally in the UK.

talk to telegraph paperNichols Said: “My question follows a recent petition to amend the Gender Recognition Act, which was supported by many voters.

“The genesis of the petition was the murder of my constituent, Brianna Gee. His life was brutally cut short before he reached the legal age to do so.

“At the time, the government said it did not think any reforms were necessary, but this is something that I have continued to raise with my constituents, and I have asked the government to respond accordingly to ensure that there are options available to bereaved families. “I will continue to raise the issue,” if the family wishes. ”

However, there are concerns that if the Gender Recognition Act is amended in this way, “self-ID,” in which people declare their gender without a doctor’s permission, may become the norm.

Lucy Marsh, from the Family Education Trust, said: “It is extremely worrying that Labor appears to be pushing the introduction of gender self-identification through the back door.” If coroners are allowed to lie on the public record about the gender of a deceased child, there is no doubt that it will be a slippery slope towards the normalization of self-ID in the NHS.

“If this is legally allowed, how can we prevent deaths from being recorded as ‘non-binary’ or babies from being registered as the opposite sex?” The government needs to crack down on this and ensure the NHS is based on reality, not fantasy. ”

This concern is likely to be further amplified by Stuart Andrew, the Conservative government’s equalities minister, who says that while there are no plans to change the law, if a person identifies as a different gender and this is recognized by a public authority, “We expect that,” he said. Organizations will use the new gender to engage with families. ”

“These organizations could include the NHS,” Andrew said.

The government minister’s comments were criticized by Brexit leader Nigel Farage, who said: ‘The Conservatives are a woke government, pretending to be something they are not and will lie to voters at the next election. Look at the evidence.”
