A Massachusetts State Police K9 tracked the child’s scent for more than three miles to find a 12-year-old girl who went missing in the frigid temperatures last week, authorities said.
According to Auburn Police, officers learned that K9 Visa, a female German shepherd, left her home around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday and was last seen in Auburn’s Pacachoag Hill neighborhood. As a result, rescue was requested.
According to the Worcester Telegram and Gazette, the child left home without a cellphone and without her mother’s permission.
Police said subzero temperatures brought police officers, detectives and Massachusetts State Police troopers to the scene to find the wandering child.
