The Solana mainnet (technically still referred to as “mainnet beta”) went down around 5:30 a.m. ET, effectively suspending all activity on the chain.
A major failure required a network restart. Engineers responded with a validator software patch about an hour after the incident, allowing validators to upgrade to version 1.17.20 and make adjustments to get the chain moving again.
Most of Solana’s validators were using either version 1.17.16 or 1.17.18. according to Node data provider solanabeach.io.
Restart network – process This may take several hours. As soon as the validator who staked his over 80% of SOL becomes active after the upgrade, it will be completed shortly before 10am ET.
We are now starting to restart the dapps on our network and assess the downstream impact.
Solana (SOL) price fell about 3% to $93.39 as news of the outage spread, but has since recovered 2% and is trading at $95.14 as of 10:30 a.m. ET. .
Solana had been operating continuously for almost a year, although it had previously suffered a major outage. February 2023June 2022, and September 2021.
