Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel has reportedly notified former President Donald Trump that she plans to resign after the South Carolina primary later this month.
The New York Times reported that people familiar with the plan said President Trump would likely replace McDaniel’s position with North Carolina Republican Party Chairman Michael Whatley.

“Nothing has changed,” Republican National Convention spokesman Keith Schipper told Fox News Digital. “This will be decided after South Carolina.”

After the meeting, President Trump said on his “Truth Social” platform that McDaniel is a “friend,” but that the next major race on the 2024 Republican nominating calendar, the South Carolina Republican Party, will take place on Feb. 24. He said he would push for changes at the RNC after the presidential primary. .
“Ronna is now the head of the RNC and will make a decision on my recommendations for the growth of the RNC the day after the South Carolina primary,” the former president wrote.
