Obscure Chase Young believer bets 200/1 on Super Bowl MVP

No one doubts the talent of former top draft pick and Ohio State standout Chase Young, but what about Super Bowl MVP?

Caesars Sportsbook bettors are buying into Young’s talent with a $2,000 bet to win Super Bowl MVP.

If Young can put on a crazy game in the Super Bowl, his bet will earn him $600,000.

Young would be a shocking player to win such an award, as he was traded by the General Managers midway through the season and did not pick up his fifth-year option.

The last edge rusher to win Super Bowl MVP was Von Miller of the Denver Broncos in 2016, and only two of the past 20 MVPs have been defensive players.

Young may be an exceptional talent, but his athleticism was questionable during his time with the 49ers.

Young has recorded just six tackles in the playoffs and hasn’t been sacked since the Ravens’ pummeling of the 49ers on Christmas Day.

Also in the NFC Championship Game, a horrible touchdown effort by Jahmil Gibbs put the 49ers in a 21-7 hole.

Young is considered a bench candidate heading into the Super Bowl, but as Pro Football Talk reported, that appears to be unfounded. Young is ready for the opportunity in front of him..

It may be worth betting on talent, but a secondary pass rusher winning Super Bowl MVP is a long way off. Among San Francisco’s top sack artists, Young is behind Nick Bosa.

The closest thing to this is Justin Tuck, who could have won Super Bowl MVP for the Giants’ upset Super Bowl win in 2008.

Tuck had six tackles in that Super Bowl, along with two sacks and a forced Tom Brady fumble, and many were clamoring for him to win MVP.

The Notre Dame product was the Giants’ No. 3 pass rusher behind Michael Strahan and Osi Umenyiora.

But even that performance didn’t win.

Patrick Mahomes had just 29 sacks in 2023, the fewest sacks of any starting QB.

For this obscure MVP bet to work, Young needs to be an unstoppable force for the full 60 minutes, plus either a defensive touchdown or a forced safety.
