The New York Jets have become one of the most interesting teams in the NFL in 2023, even though they weren’t very interesting in their primary role of winning football games.
This past season was a disaster for the Jets, and the injury to Aaron Rodgers right when it all started obviously affected things. There was definitely effort on display as the team tried to hang on, but ultimately the wear and tear of the NFL season got to them and they floundered towards the finish line.
We all have some very understandable questions about the Jets’ past season, and we were very interested in asking two players on the team about, well, a lot of things. On Wednesday afternoon, my colleague JP Acosta and I were lucky enough to chat with Breece Hall and Quincy Williams about all sorts of things while eating chicken wings along the way.
Video and audio of these interviews will be released as Super Bowl week approaches, but the technology is unreliable (looking at you Skynet), so when you finish the chat, the recording file is corrupted. I realized that. Wamp.
Thankfully, JP and I have elephant memories and remember the gist of what Brees and Quincy said, and we’ve documented it here. I also received some cute photos.
Breece Hall believes expectations should be even higher for the Jets in 2024
At one point during our conversation, Breece Hall literally ate wings, which was quite a power move. In an effort to restore his respect for himself, I decided to ask him if he felt like things were finally settling down for his team, which had been in the spotlight all year. What happens when the season ends? I even asked if that would be good. Because it’s the Jets.
Interestingly, Brees doubled down and said he believes expectations should be equal. taller than He is confident that Aaron Rodgers will be back with the Jets in 2024. While it obviously makes sense for him to believe in his teammates (apart from the fact that he preferred ranch as a dipping sauce) my impression is that despite a tumultuous season, , the trust in this team has not wavered.

Quincy Williams and his brother literally know what the other person is thinking
If you’re wondering how Jets LB Quincy Williams and his younger brother, Jets DT Quincy Williams, seem to be in the gap before opposing offenses are in the gap, the answer is simple. I mean there’s a lot of Madden.
The Williams brothers can turn on split screen and play together, helping each other improve while continuing their video game calls. The Jets’ defense is all about continuous improvement, with the Jets ranking third in the NFL in defensive EPA per play allowed since 2022. Williams arrived from Jacksonville in free agency in 2021 and has since joined up with his older brother in New York, where he played the best football of his career. Asked about how the defense can continue to play at a high level even with all the turnovers on the offensive line, Williams said that by maintaining a consistent standard of excellence at all levels of the defense, He said it is important to maintain strength even as circumstances change. .
Williams also said he would rather tackle Titans running back Derrick Henry than Giants running back Saquon Barkley, even though he is not the best tackler in the league. Williams expects Henry to have a stiff arm, but he said he can work around that. In Barkley’s case, he said Williams’ movement is difficult to predict because he can spin through contact and make jump cuts.
Either way, Williams has beaten both of them, and with him and Quinnen still on the same team, opposing offenses should be in trouble.

As mentioned above, we got the photos…and learned some valuable lessons on how to avoid file corruption in the future.
