On Thursday’s broadcast of “CNN Newsnight,” 2024 presidential candidate Rep. Dean Phillips (D-Minn.) said “it appears a crime has been committed” regarding President Joe Biden’s handling of classified documents. .
Phillips said Biden’s press conference that night was “sad.” And I think as an American who sees good people, I respect President Biden. I think he experienced many tragedies in his life. It would be very difficult to call his son Beau. It seemed like a crime had been committed and I have to say I felt like the same person watching it and was sad. And I think most countries share that. I think our president should serve this term. I think he can do it. The fact that he is running for the next election is ridiculous. And I think most countries recognize that. And frankly, I don’t think it should be politicized. I think we should honor him, uphold his legacy and pass on the torch in the next election. ”
Host Abbey Phillip said: “You said it looked like a crime had been committed. Do you think Robert Herr should have been prosecuted? [him]? ”
Phillips replied: “From what I’ve read, he said he had the evidence, but by prosecuting it, they would call him an old man with a faded memory and be too sympathetic in front of the jury. And I think there was a lot of unnecessary things in that report. That may be true, but it’s still unnecessary, and that saddens me.”
Phillips also said the report’s description of Biden’s memory is “pretty self-evident if people were looking, just look at it in the last 24 hours.”
